Graham Dorrans heading for West Brom exit as Nottingham Forest look for loan deal
Forgotten man Graham Dorrans hopes to escape Albion and join a Championship club before tomorrow's loan deadline – with Nottingham Forest in pole position.
Forest, Reading and Derby are among several Championship sides to express an interest in Dorrans, who has fallen out of favour completely at The Hawthorns in recent weeks.
But Forest are confident that they are leading the chase and will wrap up the signing of the Scotland international if the Baggies give the move the final go-ahead.
Dorrans was the star of Albion's last Championship season, sweeping the boards at the end-of-season awards as he inspired Roberto Di Matteo's side to promotion in 2009-10.
But the 26-year-old has failed to convert that form into the Premier League with injuries and family issues hampering his early efforts before the strengthening of the Baggies' squad left him unable to even make the substitutes' bench since September 28.
Albion boss Steve Clarke had previously played down the prospects of Dorrans and other out-of-favour players leaving on loan.
But, with George Thorne returning to fitness and now on loan at Watford and Zoltan Gera back in training after 10 months on the sidelines, the Baggies' stance appears to have softened.
Meanwhile, Clarke's squad today resumed their preparations for Saturday's trip to Newcastle with defender Steven Reid calling for a ruthless edge.
The Baggies have only picked up draws despite impressive performances against Arsenal, Stoke, Chelsea and Villa of late.
And Reid said: "In the Chelsea game we should have got all three points and again on Monday against Villa. Going 2-0 up in the Premier League, with the experience and quality we've got, we should go and win the game. It's two draws that feel like two defeats."
