George Dobson keen on Walsall return
Midfielder George Dobson says he would be happy to rejoin Walsall on loan next season.
The 19-year-old was snapped up by the Saddlers on a temporary basis from West Ham back in June and has impressed in 25 appearances for Jon Whitney's side.
With just one game of the season remaining, Dobson is now preparing to go back to the Hammers over the summer.
But the youngster wants to go out on loan next year and is keen on a return to the Banks's Stadium.
"The target for me this season was to get around 25 performances and Port Vale was my 25th so it was nice to hit that," Dobson said.
"I'll go back to West Ham at the end of the season and I've got one year left on my contract and then see what happens from there.
"I want to be able to go back out on loan next season and Walsall is definitely a club I'm interested in coming back to.
"We will just have to see what happens. I don't know what West Ham want to do. But I am open to everything.
"I just want to play football and wherever I have an opportunity to do that I will look at it and consider – and it could easily be here."
Dobson admits he has enjoyed his time with the Saddlers – but said any move he makes next season has to be based on playing games.
"I've really enjoyed my time here," he continued.
"At such a young age going out into first-team football, it's a big challenge and it's obviously been frustrating at times, not playing.
"But then you get periods where you are playing and it's brilliant.
"Where I go next year, I just want to be able to play as much as I can and be a regular starter.
"I will keep working over the summer and in pre-season to put myself in the best position to be able to do that."
Dobson also thanked Whitney for the role the manager has played in his development.
"We get on really well," he added.
"He (Whitney) has nurtured me through the season.
"He's been good to me, always talked to me and told me where I can improve and what I've done well."
