Eoghan O'Connell thrilled with Walsall start
Eoghan O'Connell admits he could not be happier with the start he has made at Walsall – and has hinted his long-term future could be away from Celtic.
The 21-year-old was snapped up on loan from the Scottish giants earlier this month and has impressed as the Saddlers secured back-to-back victories over Sheffield United and Bristol Rovers.
O'Connell, who is out of contract at the end of the season, scored his first career with a stunning volley in the win over Darrell Clarke's side.
And he is delighted with how he has settled at the Banks's Stadium, while also revealing his long-term future will be resolved at the end of the season.
"Im really enjoying my time here." the defender said. "Everyone has been great with me. The lads and the manager are very welcoming. I settled in very quickly. It always takes a week or two to be fully settled but the lads have made it so easy.
"I hadn't played in a while when I got here so I was a bit wary. But in both games I played we thoroughly deserved the win so I'm very happy."
O'Connell played in seven games for Celtic at the start of the season but he says he is yet to speak to Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers about a new contract.
"I'm not too sure what's going to happen next season," the former Cork City star said.
"My contract is up at the end of the season and we've not really spoken about it up there.
"We will speak about it when I get back from the loan.
"But it's not something I'm thinking about too much. We will see what happens."
