Jon Whitney refuses to rule out January signings for Walsall

Walsall boss Jon Whitney insists he is happy with his current squad, but has refused to rule out making further signings in January.

The Saddlers supremo was left frustrated on Saturday as his side crashed out of the FA Cup following a 1-0 loss to National League outfit Macclesfield.

That game saw Walsall's six-match unbeaten run come to an end ahead of tomorrow's Checkatrade Trophy clash with Leicester under-23s.

But despite admitting his phone is constantly ringing with agents offering him players, Whitney doesn't expect January to be too busy at the Banks's Stadium.

"The last week or so I have had a dozen calls from agents," he said.

"It's starting to simmer and now we are starting to get offered players who aren't happy and want to be playing football.

But I am more than happy with my squad. Whether it changes through injury – that's one thing but as it stands now I'm really happy with my squad."
