Walsall's feet are on the ground says Jon Whitney
Boss Jon Whitney insists resurgent Walsall won't be getting ahead of themselves as they look to round off an excellent October in style against Coventry.
The Saddlers head into their clash at the Banks's unbeaten in five games over the course of the month, a run which has seen them climb into the top half of League One and progress to the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy.
The club's 2-0 win at Swindon was their first away from home in the league this season but Whitney is keeping his feet firmly on the ground during his first full season in management and determined not to look further than the next game.
"I take each day as it comes," he said. "We have set ourselves up for a really good week because I think the performance against Swindon will send out a bit of a message.
"We can re-group, freshen up and get them ready for Coventry. We have lost one in nine now and it is five games unbeaten but we won't get carried away.
"We have done it through hard work and now our focus switches to Coventry."
Coventry arrive at the Banks's for the Midlands derby in the drop zone but have won three out of four in the league under caretaker boss Mark Venus and the tight nature of the division is highlighted in the fact they sit only five points behind the Saddlers.
Walsall defender Jason McCarthy has meanwhile hailed the performances of goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, who kept a first clean sheet in six games at Swindon.
McCarthy said: "He has won us points at times this season if I am being honest.
"In my career, he is one of the best I have seen."
