Jon Whitney prepared for late Walsall departures
Boss Jon Whitney is prepared for the possible exit of teenage star Rico Henry after predicting a hectic end to the transfer window for Walsall.
Whitney, who has overseen a dramatic squad overhaul this summer, hinted there could be further departures from the Banks's before Wednesday night's deadline.
Henry, who has been scouted by a host of Premier League and Championship clubs, is by some distance the club's prized asset. And while no firm offers are thought to have yet been lodged for the left-back, Whitney already has plans in place should the situation change in the coming days.
Responding to a question about his own recruitment plans, he said: "Of course, we would like to get another one in but we will see if anyone goes out. Something is going to happen, I think, in the next couple of days. It always does and I will be ready for it."
He went on: "You never know (what is going to happen). I know Rico has a lot of interest.
"I have to have a Plan B for everything because I am not going to have much time. I have issues I have to deal with and if something happens I will be ready to try and rectify it."
Whitney continued: "Obviously there is still interest in some of my players and it is going to be a crazy, crazy merry-go-round for the next few days. I am expecting some late nights."
Henry, most recently linked with Bristol City and Leeds United, is contracted to the Saddlers until 2018 and the club have no desire to sell a player who was developed in their youth ranks.
The 19-year-old has missed the last three games with a dislocated shoulder sustained at Oldham earlier this month.
