Two more additions is Walsall's target
Walsall boss Jon Whitney is hopeful of making two more additions before the season opener against AFC Wimbledon.
The Saddlers manager has already made eight signings this summer following a string of high profile departures.
But while Whitney feels he already has a 'nucleus' of a successful side, he believes as extra couple of players are still required.
He said: "I think there will be a couple more. I haven't finished yet. The chairman might think I have but I'm still pushing.
"There are a few little pieces of the jigsaw I need but I have got the main nucleus which is really pleasing considering the lads that have left.
"We are a good unit and we won't fail through a lack of effort. We will push it every game because we have got good, honest lads."
Asked whether one of the new signings will be a striker, Whitney added: "Possibly. I think we will need another one to support us.
"That is another option I am looking for but I have got several options."
Whitney's most recent addition is striker Simeon Jackson and the boss revealed the 29-year-old has been a long-term target.
The Saddlers chief added: "He was one of my first targets. I approached him about five weeks ago but there were a couple of clubs interested.
"So I kept calling him. I told him I had a couple of chocolate muffins for him and he could come and have breakfast with me.
"I told him I wanted him to come in, be my number nine and score his goals again.
"He is hungry. He is someone who can stretch the line. He has got a lot of pace. And his character fits in.
"I have had three or four who I have spoken to. But when I have spoken to them, I didn't get the feeling for it.
"I had to get the feeling for it. I had to have the players look me in the eye and tell me they want to come to this club."
