Rotherham pull out of race to sign Tom Bradshaw

Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart has confirmed his club has pulled out of the race to sign Walsall's Tom Bradshaw.

The Welsh striker looks destined to be announced as a Barnsley player tomorrow after undergoing a medical at Oakwell earlier today.

Rotherham had previously made two bids for the 23-year-old with the latest believed to be in the region of £550,000.

But after Bradshaw handed in a written transfer request, Barnsley came in with an improved offer.

And Stewart confirmed Miller's manager Alan Stubbs decided against matching the bid.

"We had been aware of Bradshaw for a while and then heard Barnsley were in for him a couple of weeks ago," Stewart said.

"We had a bid and that bid was upped. We thought we had the deal bagged and done, but then Walsall came back and said there was a late bidder.

"At that point, you think 'okay, what do we do now?'

"I asked the manager if he thought the player was worth more than our last bid and he said 'no'.

"That was the opinion of the manager and his team.

"Other clubs may think differently about what a player is worth and, of course, we respect that.

"We like to get what we feel is value for money. It's great to have a manager who thinks the same and doesn't just want to spend the chairman's money for the sake of it."
