The Saddlers manager looks set for a summer overhaul with the club still to hear from 11 players whose contracts expired at the end of the last campaign.

Those stars, which include the likes of Romaine Sawyers, Sam Mantom and Anthony Forde, have until today before the deals the club put on the table last month expire.

In the meantime, Whitney is busy speaking to targets as he looks to build his side for next season and has already secured the services of Kacy Milan Butterfield and Erhun Oztumer.

He said: "My phone is ringing all the time with agents. But I am quite good at wheeling and dealing. I have been around it for many years and done it myself as a player.

"I was in with managers and did it myself – I never had an agent, I always did what I was happy with.

"I am going to take that skillset into my negotiations with players and I hope they can see with my enthusiasm and my knowledge it will benefit them."

Whitney revealed he is speaking to a variety of targets including youngsters, players towards the end of their career and some who haven't fulfilled their potential.
