Florent Cuvelier is a target for Walsall
Florent Cuvelier is a transfer target for a return to Walsall, the Express & Star understands.
The attacking midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Banks's Stadium in 2012 and became a fans' favourite.
He scored the goal that saw the Saddlers retain their League One status that year.
Now the 23-year-old is amongst a number of targets Walsall boss Jon Whitney is looking at as he searches to bolster his midfield.
Cuvelier is currently a free agent having left Sheffield United, following an injury-blighted three years.
The Belgian could now form part of a new-look Walsall midfield, with Saddlers having a host of stars out of contract.
Meanwhile, Barnsley are reported to be ready to up their offer for Tom Bradshaw after seeing an initial bid for the striker rejected.
It is understood the Tykes offered in a region of £400,000 for the Welshman who has scored 20 goals in each of the last two seasons.
But that offer was rejected out of hand by the Saddlers hierarchy who have placed a seven-figure asking price on the 23-year-old.
After being unveiled as Barnsley's permanent manager yesterday, Paul Heckingbottom confirmed his interest in Bradshaw as well as Colchester's George Moncur.
He said: "We're looking at a lot of players for next season, but Tom and George Moncur are two players we've put bids in for.
"They're both very good players and players we think would fit in well at the club. They fit the mould of player we're looking at.
"Looking at our squad we definitely need another centre forward, a central midfielder and strength on the wings. Those are areas we're looking to strengthen in."
Reports in Yorkshire claim the Tykes are ready to up their offer for Bradshaw to £500,000.
But the Express and Star understands Walsall are in no rush to sell and will only let the Welshman leave if their asking price is met.
A host of Championship clubs - including Nottingham Forest, Birmingham and Preston - are said to be monitoring the situation as well as Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers.
