The Wolverhampton-born boss is now odds on with most bookmakers to fill the vacant Banks's hotseat.
O'Driscoll is currently out of work after leaving his role as assistant at Liverpool when Brendan Rodgers was sacked.
Reports have emerged suggesting the 58-year-old could be appointed as early as tonight. However, the Express & Star believes those claims are premature.
Walsall have been on the hunt for a new boss ever since Dean Smith swapped the Saddlers for Brentford over a fortnight ago.
