FA Cup draw destiny: Saddlers set for Dean Smith reunion

Dean Smith's Brentford await Walsall in the third round of the FA Cup – if the Saddlers can overcome Chesterfield in their second-round replay next Tuesday.

In a script only the world's oldest and most famous domestic cup competition could write, the draw paired Walsall with the Championship side their manager, as well as assistant Richard O'Kelly, left them for just a week ago.

Current and former players were straight on to social media to share their feelings about the draw.

Striker Jordan Cook posted on Twitter: "That's unbelievable."

Liam Kinsella added: "Was meant to be."

Meanwhile, goalkeeping legend Jimmy Walker was marvelling at the Cup's script-writers, posting: "Can't write that."

But winger Milan Lalkovic was quick to add some realism, writing: "Yessssass !!!!!!!! Meant to be", before posting "let's get thru first."

Albion drew Championship outfit Bristol City at home, Wolves will go to the Boleyn Ground one last time to face West Ham United, Villa face a tricky trip to League Two team Wycombe Wanderers and Blues take on Bournemouth.
