Dean Smith frustrated despite Walsall win
Walsall boss Dean Smith admitted to a sense of frustration despite watching his side secure a 2-0 win over Doncaster at the Banks's.
Two late Tom Bradshaw goals, the first of which came in the 86th minute, secured a dramatic victory to lift the Saddlers back up to second in League One.
But, despite coming away with all three points, Smith felt his team didn't hit the heights they showed in the previous Saturday's defeat to Bury.
He said: "Frustration was the word last week, because of the result. But today I'm happy with the result, but not as happy with the performance.
"Last week's performance was much better, but I'm sat here with a smile on my face because we have won the game.
"Sometimes, when teams are as organised as Doncaster, you need a bit of magic. We certainly got that today with Tom Bradshaw, who has produced two brilliant finishes.
"But I felt we didn't move the ball quick enough. Too many passes went astray and it looked like we lacked a bit of confidence.
"The game got slow and we played safe and when you do that you are never going to pull people out of position."
Smith confirmed he gave his players a stern talking too at half-time in a bid to try and install more confidence.
He said: "I got into them at half-time. I was disappointed with them, they didn't look like a team that were sat third in the league. It looked like they were playing safe.
"I told them you need to entertain me, as well as the fans, because I didn't feel entertained.
"I reminded the players they were sat here six weeks ago having won six games on the spin. Go and show me some more of that."
