Jordy Hiwula set to extend Walsall stay

Walsall are poised to extend the loan stay of striker Jordy Hiwula by a further month.

A deal to keep the 20-year-old striker at the Banks's has been agreed in principle with parent club Manchester City and could be completed before tomorrow's game with Leyton Orient.

At the very least the Saddlers are hopeful of completing the necessary paperwork prior to Tuesday night's trip to Yeovil, when Hiwula's initial month-long loan is set to expire.

The striker has impressed manager Dean Smith after scoring three goals in his five appearances for the club to date.

Hiwula had previously managed only one goal in nine appearances during a loan spell at Yeovil earlier this season, but Smith insists his impact at the Banks's has come as no surprise.

"We knew what he was capable of, we had seen a couple of games when he played for Yeovil and he looked really sharp," said Smith.

"I know he didn't perhaps get the goals there but I don't think you can question his quality.

"What really helped him here was scoring in his first game, which has given him the confidence he needed. He is a clever player and that is what I like about him."
