Tom Bradshaw will celebrate a Walsall goal
Striker Tom Bradshaw has promised to celebrate if he scores against former club Shrewsbury Town tomorrow – out of respect for Walsall fans.
Tomorrow's FA Cup first round tie at the Banks's Stadium is a big occasion for the Saddlers top scorer.
And, while some players opt not to celebrate when they score against former clubs, Bradshaw believes it would be disrespectful to supporters of his new club if he didn't.
"I've spoken to a few people about it," he said. "I think it is only right, out of respect for Walsall's fans, that I celebrate.
"I'm a Walsall player and I think it is only right. After all I am a striker and if you are not going to celebrate when you score goals, when are you?"
Bradshaw has fond memories of the Shrews but is determined to put them to the sword tomorrow to spark a Saddlers Cup run.
"We want to get to that third round first and foremost, it's a great feeling if you draw a big club home or away," he added. "If you can get on a run it lifts the whole club."
Manager Dean Smith, meanwhile, will urge Bradshaw to play the game and not the occasion.
"I will have a chat with Tom, he can't go and do it all on his own," said Smith. "Sometimes players when they play against their old team try that bit harder.
"He spent a large part of his early career at Shrewsbury Town and fortunately for ourselves we snapped him up. He's eager to prove to Shrewsbury they were possibly wrong not to play him more."
