The wide man netted his first senior goal in the 2-1 Capital One Cup win at Southend.

Morris, 20, a product of the Saddlers youth system, re-signed on a short-term contract in the summer.

The winger acknowledges it is a case of now or never if he is to become part of manager Dean Smith's plans.

"I have to kick on from here," he said. "I am only on a short-term contract and my aim is to get a new deal.

"I need to get more games as my current deal is up at Christmas. I just want to push on now and get more games and goals under my belt."

Morris made his first-team debut at Carlisle toward the tail end of last season and Tuesday's substitute appearance at Roots Hall was just the fourth of his professional career.

He admits his confidence has increased every time he has been on the pitch.

"Having come off the bench a few times now I am as not as nervous as I was before," he said. "I know when I come on I can build.

"When you first get on it is a bit nerve-wracking but once you get a couple of touches of the ball it is fine.

"When that happens your confidence comes on. I just do what I want to do.

"I know I need to improve my defensive side of the game. I'm confident with everything on the ball, it is just the defensive side and getting it together off the ball.

"I need to switch on more and keep track of runners when they go behind me but I am working on it."

Morris' stunning goal on Tuesday decided the tie at Roots Hall though the winger admitted he was "shocked" to see his 25-yarder go in.

"I just knew I had to get my shot off," he said. "It went in. I was shocked. I could not believe it."
