Hednesford Town sign goalkeeper Dave Parton

Hednesford Town have signed goalkeeper Dave Parton from Conference Premier Altrincham, with a view to him taking the number one shirt left by Dan Crane.

A busy day a Keys Lane also saw Richard Batchelor depart for National League North rivals Brackley Town.

And Brackley claim to have signed Glenn Walker, in a purposed triple swoop, after also securing forward Steve Diggin last week.

Parton, 22, was signed by from Newcastle Town by Alty last season following their promotion into the top tier of non-league football.

He played 15 times for the Robins, finishing the season as their number one.

Crane departed the Pitmen recently, after 269 appearances that spanned five years.

Midfielder Batchelor, signed from Leamington in October 2014 and enjoyed a memorable few months at Keys Park, becoming a firm favourite.

The 26-year-old's debut double against Oxford City will live long in the memory.

Josh Craddock, Kyle Perry, Tim Sanders and Tom France have already signed for Smith during the close-season, with Crane, Darren Campion and Tom Thorley have headed in the opposite direction.

Walker, who is touted to follow those out of the exit door, won Rob Smith's Manager's Player of the Season gong recently at the Pitmen's end of season awards.

Former-Town midfielder Craddock arrived back at Keys Park after an eye-catching Northern Premier League campaign with Rushall Olympic.

Boss Smith said: "He has a great winning attitude and we are really pleased to get him signed up."
