The left-back, on loan from Bristol City, has suffered from injury setbacks throughout the season after joining Darrell Clarke’s side in the summer.

His latest knock has kept him out since Walsall’s 2-2 FA Cup draw with Darlington on November 9.

But he came on at half-time in the club’s comeback 1-1 draw against Macclesfield on Saturday and the 21-year-old provided the assist for Wes McDonald’s equaliser.

“It’s just nice to be able to get an assist to be fair, it has been a long time coming,” Pring said.

“I didn’t think I’d have to wait until December to get my first assist for the club but now I’ve got it, I want to build on it.

“Hopefully I can get myself back into the team and get some more games under my belt and start helping the team out a lot more.”

Walsall now face a busy festive period that sees the team play five games in two weeks, starting with the trip to Exeter City this Saturday.

And Pring is adamant that the team, who currently sit 17th in the league, should be looking up rather than down as they aim to pick up maximum points during the festive season.

“Over the Christmas period, if we can get a few results, we will shoot straight up the league,” he added.

“We have just got to keep at it and keep picking up points.

“We’ve got to take it game by game and hopefully get a few more wins on the board.

“I think we should be looking up the league table rather than down it.

“The results have been picking up in recent weeks and I don’t think we are a bottom half of the league team.

“I don’t think we should be where we are in the league but it’s now all about doing what we are doing at the moment and I know we will push ourselves further up the league.

“The games we have played against teams towards the top of the league like Forest Green and Swindon, we have matched them and we have shown that we can go toe-to-toe with them.

“Hopefully we can go up to Exeter next weekend and put in a solid performance and hopefully walk away with a win.”
