Roberto Di Matteo frustrated after Aston Villa draw

Boss Roberto Di Matteo could not conceal his frustration as Villa were held at home by Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Ross McCormack and Rudy Gestede, which cancelled out Apostolos Vellios' opener, looked to have Villa on course for a morale-boosting win.

But Henri Lansbury struck three minutes from time as Forest claimed an unlikely point and left Di Matteo wondering how his team had not won a game they largely dominated.

"I'm very frustrated by the result," he said. "The team performance was very good. First half, second, half, we dominated the whole game.

"We limited the opposition to a shot from 25 yards and the second one, we probably could have stopped him a little earlier when he was on the way through.

"We hit the post again, hit the bar again, the goalkeeper made some great saves.

"But we're moving in the right direction.

"The way we played was pleasing. We came back from one goal down. That was a good reaction by the team.

"We have changed the team around and we did well to get back into the game.

"We're frustrated by the result. We need to make sure we come out of these games with three points."

McCormack and Jordan Ayew both hit the woodwork, while Forest keeper Vladimir Stojkovic twice denied new signing Jonathan Kodjia a debut goal with fine saves.

"We've had games where we dominated 45 minutes, 60 minutes, but today was 90 minutes dominance," added Di Matteo. "We need to win these games, simple as that."
