Former Spurs director Damien Comolli linked with Aston Villa role
Former Tottenham and Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has been linked with a role at Villa as part of a possible takeover.
The 43-year-old is reportedly being lined up for a role by a Chinese consortium, should they succeed in buying the Championship-bound club.
They are one of three groups are understood to be battling to buy Villa from wantaway owner Randy Lerner, who first put the club on the market in 2014.
Villa revealed last week that chairman Steve Hollis was involved in 'extensive negotiations' over a sale.
Other interested parties include a Midlands-based consortium of wealthy Villa fans and an American investor, thought to be California computing billionaire Larry Ellison.
Comolli has not worked in English football since leaving Liverpool in April 2012.
He was previously a scout at Arsenal and worked as Tottenham's director of football between 2005 and 2008. He has also worked with Monaco and St Etienne.
Former Leicester boss Nigel Pearson remains favourite to become the new manager at Villa, who go to Watford on Saturday looking to avoid what would be a club record equalling 11th straight defeat.
