Villa captain Fabian Delph closing in on move to Manchester City
Villa captain Fabian Delph is closing in on a transfer to Manchester City and could complete the move as early as today.
It's understood that City have met the £8 million release clause in the Villa midfielder's contract with the player now discussing personal terms.
Delph has returned to pre-season training but didn't join up with the rest of the squad as they flew out to Portugal.
Earlier this week, defender Micah Richards, who spent 10 years with City, revealed Delph had already sought his advice about a move to the Etihad.
Another player who won't be at Villa next season is defender Antonio Luna, who has left to join Spanish club Eibar.
Villa and Luna reached a settlement on the remainder of his contract after he only made 17 starts for the club.
Luna, who joined from Sevilla in a £2m deal in 2013, was loaned to Italian sides Hellas Verona snd Spezia Calcio last season.
Meanwhile, Leandro Bacuna says Villa's remaining players are enjoying working with boss Tim Sherwood on their pre-season trip to Portugal
"This training camp is an exciting time," said Bacuna.
"It's his first at Aston Villa and he will be looking forward to working with us all week to prepare us how he wants for the new season. Last season, he came in at a time when we were struggling."
