Eighteen-year-old Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is heading to Euro 2016 after Roy Hodgson decided to cut Andros Townsend and Danny Drinkwater from the England squad.

Having initially named a 26-strong provisional party on May 17, the Three Lions boss had to whittle the squad down by three ahead of Tuesday's UEFA deadline.

Manchester City's Fabian Delph had already dropped out due to a groin complaint, with the Football Association confirming on Tuesday that Newcastle winger Townsend and Leicester midfielder Drinkwater had not made the 23-man squad.

Three players to miss the cut:

FABIAN DELPH (Man City, 05/05/91, 9 caps, 0 goals)

Since making the controversial move from Aston Villa to the Etihad Stadium, the 26-year-old has struggled to make his mark. Delph's season was stunted by chunks out with injury and his Euro 2016 dreams went up in smoke after sustaining a groin injury last week. The midfielder performed with aplomb in his full debut away at Switzerland in the opening Euro 2016 qualifier, featuring in six of the 10 wins en route to France.

DANNY DRINKWATER (Leicester, 05/03/90, 3 caps, 0 goals)

This has been an unforgettable season for the Premier League champion, but the fairytale will not end with a trip to France. Deservedly handed a chance by England in March, Drinkwater impressed and was named man of the match in his first start against Holland. The 26-year-old ended the season strongly, despite a red card against former club Manchester United, and played a part in both warm-up friendlies. Unfortunately for Drinkwater, there was not space in the 23 due to Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshere's return to fitness.

ANDROS TOWNSEND (Newcastle, 16/07/91, 11 caps, 3 goals)

Despite starting the season with his Tottenham career fizzling out and ending it with relegation at Newcastle, he managed to secure a place in Hodgson's 26-man squad. It is not a campaign Townsend will look back on with any particular fondness, although he has looked revitalised at St James' Park and that form earned a timely recall from Hodgson. The 24-year-old missed out on the World Cup two years ago through injury and now has been just edged out of the 23.
