Richard Haney pockets Under-21 title
Richard Haney pocketed some end-of-season silverware after coming out on top in the Staffordshire & West Midlands Billiards & Snooker Association Under-21 final.
Haney (Wednesfield Cons), who recorded the most wins in Division One this season, took on Jack Harris (Landywood SC) at Golden Cue in Bilston over the best of seven frames.
And it was Haney who completed a memorable campaign when he clinched his maiden junior title by defeating 16-year-old Harris 4-1, aided by breaks of 32, 34 and 43.
In the Foursomes final, youth got the better of experience as promising youngsters Jack Harris and Riley Parsons (St Johns) beat Brandhall pair Geoff Williams and Gary Miller.
The showdown took place at Wolverhampton Electric Club, with Harris and Parsons running out 3-1 winners after the first two frames had been shared.
Harris rolled in the highest break of the night with a fine 63. Geoff Willliams (48) registered the Brandhall pairs' best break.
Sedgley Ex-Service duo Simon Hickman and Daniel Ward teamed up to win the Pairs Medley final.
The First Division pair prevailed despite giving their opponents Peter Hyland and Dwyer Evans, from Division Four outfit Codsall Firs, 227 start.
Ward was in fine form as he knocked in breaks of 40, 46 and 77 while Hickman rolled in a 48.
Going into the final frame of doubles Hyland and Evans found themselves 31 behind.
That proved a bridge too far as Hickman and Ward ran out 74-point winners for an aggregate success of 444-339.
Sedgley Ex-Service and Hotshots squared up against each other in two shoot-outs for glory.
Honours ended even as Hotshots triumphed in the Challenge Cup while Sedgley lifted the 3 x 2 Handicap.
In the Challenge Cup, Callum Downing and Luke Higginbotham won frames for Hotshots.
Higginbotham's 85-point success proves vital in their 306-244 aggregate win despite Sedgley taking three frames through Ward, Andy Highfield and women's world champion Reanne Evans.
The Sedgley Ex-Service trio of Ward, Andy Highfield and Evans received a 14 start in 3 x 2 Handicap against Hotshots trio Downing, Luke Garland and Jamie Brown.
Ward was in superb form with breaks of 99 and 49, aided by Highfield (46) as only Downing got his arm going for Hotshots with a 35.
That left Evans to close the match out with a massive 150-plus point start with two frames to play against Brown.
Despite Brown's best efforts, pulling 87 points back, it was Sedgley who ran out comfortable winners by an aggregate score of 390-317 to secure the title.
