Ex-West Brom technical director Dan Ashworth on Aston Villa's radar

Aston Villa are believed to be looking to former Albion technical director Dan Ashworth as a possible new recruit to their board.

Ashworth, now director of elite development at the FA, has reportedly been targeted as part of chairman Steve Hollis's Villa overhaul.

If appointed, he would follow former Bank of England governor Mervyn King, ex-boss Brian Little and former FA chairman David Bernstein to the club.

The club has seen chief executive Tom Fox and sporting director Hendrk Almstadt leave their roles as part of the shake-up sparked by Villa's disastrous Premier League campaign, which has left them certainties for relegation.
