Former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek dies

Former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has died, his agent has announced. Srnicek was in an induced coma since a cardiac arrest and a decision was taken to switch off his life support machine.

The 47-year-old, who made 150 appearances for the Magpies between 1991 and 1998, collapsed while out jogging on Sunday night.

His agent, Steve Wraith, said in a statement: "It is with deep sadness that I have to announce the passing of former Newcastle United player Pavel Srnicek."
