Craig Gardner relishing forthcoming Albion v Villa FA Cup quarter final
Former Aston Villa and current West Bromwich Albion midfielder Craig Gardner is relishing the forthcoming FA Cup quarter-final between the sides.
The West Midlands rivals were paired together in tonight's sixth round tie, with the game to take place at Villa Park on the weekend of March 7-8.
Gardner came through the youth ranks at Villa Park and then spent five years in their first team before making a controversial move across the city to Birmingham in 2010.
He went on to lift the League Cup with the Blues in 2011, and helped knock Villa out of the competition at the quarter-final stage on the way, before joining the Baggies last summer following a spell at Sunderland.
And he took to Twitter to express his excitement at the prospect of another derby cup quarter-final clash against the Claret & Blues.
He tweeted: "I've played villa in a cup before in the quarter finals, same result will do #boingboing #facup #wembley"
Gardner also scored the winning goal the last time Albion faced Villa, with his second half finish earning his team a precious three points in the Premier League back in December.
