Wolves' interest was today confirmed in Norway's hottest young property Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson - as they were warned they need to act quickly to sign him.

The Lillestrom striker's agent Jerry de Koning said new boss Stale Solbakken is very keen on bringing the Iceland international to Molineux, but that he needs to review his squad first before deciding whether to make him his first signing at Wolves.

"I know that Solbakken likes the player very much," de Koning told the Express & Star.

"I think he needs to look at his squad first and see who will stay and who will go.

"But if he wants Sigurdarson, he can't wait too long because there is a lot of interest."

Reports suggest Sigurdarson, who has scored 11 goals in as many games this season, would cost between £3m and £4m.

Everton are again planning to watch the 21-year-old in action tonight when Lillestrom host Aalesunds, after also keeping a watching brief as Sigurdarson scored the only goal on Sunday against Sogndal.

Sunderland, Reading, Fulham and Ipswich among others have also scouted Sigurdarson, who is dubbed Iceland's fastest player, in recent months.

It's not known whether Solbakken will be at tonight's game.

But the Norwegian coach's dilemma appears to be whether to sign Sigurdarson while he knows little about his current strikeforce, as it seems highly unlikely that he would be allowed to spend so much on a forward without selling one first.

As it stands, Solbakken isn't due back in England until July 1, the official start of his employment.

But with clubs keen to do their business before squads return for the start of pre-season training, the 44-year-old may be in demand to talk with players before then to establish who is in his plans, with Fletcher and Matt Jarvis in demand and a further seven – including Michael Kightly - having just a year left on their contracts.

Virtually all the players lose up to half their wages following relegation, and those with 12 months left are likely to want to know what his plans are for them before committing to any new deals.

Along with Kightly, Ronald Zubar, Christophe Berra, Nenad Milijas, Adlene Guedioura, Stephen Hunt and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake see their deals expire in June 2013.

They are free to negotiate with and sign pre-contract agreements with non-English clubs from January 1 if they don't sign.

And if they are allowed to run down their contracts, all would be entitled to a Bosman free transfer.
