Wolves were today told that Norway's most talked-about young talent would have the ideal grounding at Molineux.

Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson, a 21-year-old striker at Lillestrom, has been linked with a £3m-£4m move to Wolves after his 11 goals in 10 games this season made him the hottest property in Norwegian football.

Wolves were alerted to Sigurdarson a few weeks ago before new boss Stale Solbakken took over.

Everton, Ipswich and Anderlecht were represented as Sigurdarson netted a last-minute winner as his side beat Sogndal 1-0 on Sunday.

The Toffees' Premier League status would appear to give them the edge, but Wolves have several factors in their favour.

New Molineux boss Stale Solbakken is well aware of the Iceland international, who plays for the same club as the 44-year-old made his mark as a goalscoring midfielder.

Current Wolves midfielder Eggert Jonsson is an Iceland team-mate of Sigurdarson, while one of Sigurdarson's half-brothers is Joey Gudjonsson, who was on loan at Molineux in 2003-04.

Henning Berg, a former Norway international colleague of Solbakken's who managed Sigurdarson at Lillestrom until October 2011, believes the 6ft 1ins striker would be suited to a stint in the Championship.

The 100-capped defender, a Premier League winner at Blackburn and Manchester United, told the Express & Star: "I wouldn't be surprised if Wolves were interested because he's a fantastic talent and they have a manager who knows the Norwegian market.

"He has the potential to play in the Premier League but I don't think he should be put off playing in the Championship as the most important thing for his development is to be playing regularly, and he will have a better chance of that if he goes to Wolves.

"If he goes to a Premier League club, he would be in and out of the team and that wouldn't be as good for him.

"He's hardworking, but what makes him so special is his fantastic strength, his mobility, pace and balance.

"He's strong but he can still turn and dribble quickly and he's fast and good in the air – he's got everything."

Lillestrom boss Magnus Haglund appears to be resigned to losing Sigurdarson and said: "Bjorn is dominating the games in the same way that Zlatan Ibrahimovich did at that age.

"No one could live with Zlatan when he played in Sweden and it's the same way with Bjorn here."

Asked what should be the price, Haglund said: "Well, Zlatan went for £8m and Bjorn is a player that has the same potential."
