Wolves today faced an anxious wait over Ronald Zubar after the defender limped out of their Irish tour with an ankle injury.

Zubar was set to undergo a scan today after twisting his left ankle with just 20 minutes gone of Saturday's opening friendly against Bohemians, which Wolves won 3-0.

The 24-year-old right-back, who left Dalymount Park wearing a protective boot, definitely misses tomorrow's friendly against Walsall at the Banks's Stadium.

But Zubar hopes to return for Saturday's game at Charleroi.

He said: "A ball came across and I tried to turn but my ankle twisted and it gave me a bad feeling - it was painful.

"It's a little bit sore and swollen, so I've keep the protective boot on it for a couple of days.

"I've had it treated over the weekend, I'll probably have it scanned today and we'll see what the problem is inside.

"Hopefully, if there's nothing wrong, I'll be back in training tomorrow.

"It was disappointing because it was the first game back and I want to prove myself, keep it going after last season. But we won and I played 20 minutes.

"Hopefully I'll be OK for next weekend."

Boss Mick McCarthy added: "He rocked his ankle but until we know the extent of it, I can't say any more.

"I'm sure we'll have it scanned to check it out."

On the squad front, McCarthy will give the players who didn't start in Ireland a chance from the off against the Saddlers as he looks to get his squad similar amounts of action.

He said: "The lads that finished the game will all start tomorrow against Walsall."

That means Greg Halford, Richard Stearman, George Elokobi, Stephen Ward, Kevin Foley, Dave Edwards, Geoffrey Mujangi Bia, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Sam Vokes will all start tomorrow.

Elokobi played at centre-back at the weekend while Foley came on in central midfield.

McCarthy also handed a debut to 19-year-old Irish keeper Aaron McCarey, who came on as a late replacement for Wayne Hennessey.

A report yesterday also claimed Wolves claimed haved agreed a season-long loan with St Etienne for powerful midfielder Guirane N'Daw, after failing to agree a fee.
