The cash has been injected into the authority's budget in a bid to improve the borough's highways.

It will target hundreds of potholes across miles of residential streets, as well as some complete resurfacing of roads in Dudley.

Dudley Council leader, Patrick Harley, said: "We need a real purge on potholes across the borough which is why I have decided to add £1 million to the budget.

"When we started setting the budget last year we were very clear about investing in areas that are important to people.

"This is a massive investment, to add to the commitments we have already made, and I am sure will be welcomed by everyone using the roads."

The plans will be discussed at a meeting of Dudley Council's cabinet on February 11.

People can report potholes via the council’s website at www.dudley.gov.uk.
