Severe rush-hour delays as diesel spillage closes M6

A diesel spillage on the M6 closed the northbound carriageway and caused severe rush-hour delays.

The road was closed within Junction 6 for Spaghetti Junction after debris ruptured a lorry's fuel tank shortly before 4.15pm yesterday afternoon, resulting the the spillage of 450 litres of fuel.

The road was closed for almost 12 hours, reopening at 3.40am following resurfacing work.
