A HGV and a car collided on the southbound carriageway between junction 10a and 10, with delays of 30 minutes stretching back to Junction 11.

The incident happened around 9.45am but was cleared by 11.30am.

A 50-year-old man, the driver of the car, was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital complaining of neck and back pain after having to be cut free.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.46am and a single ambulance attended. The original caller said the vehicle was on the hard shoulder facing the wrong direction after colliding with a HGV.

"There was damage to the passenger side of the car although admittedly not very much."
