Hillary Clinton e-mail scandal: Now WOLVES are drawn in to the saga

It's the scandal that has gripped America for months – and now Wolves find themselves bizarrely drawn into Hillary Clinton's email trail.

The bizarre link between the club and the potential next US President has been revealed in emails published by campaigning website Judicial Watch.

Mrs Clinton is under fire for using a private email server to send official correspondence, with critics claiming she has deliberately done so to avoid freedom of information laws.

It is a scandal that has dogged her campaign for the presidency, with more than 30,000 emails being investigated.

According to emails released last night, Wolves were due to visit Las Vegas in May 2009 for a 'celebration break', after promotion to the Premier League. However, one player had issues getting into the country due to a previous 'criminal charge'.

The suggestion is that a Clinton donor tried to get help to ease the player's visa problem. Although the name of the player is redacted – blacked out – in the emails, former striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake pleaded guilty in 2008 to attacking a doorman with his girlfriend's handbag after being thrown out of a Plymouth nightclub.

The player admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and using threatening or abusive language and was handed a fine and ordered to pay compensation.

Judicial Watch said: "We have released 725 pages of new State Department documents, including email exchanges in which former Hillary Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin provided influential Clinton Foundation donors with special, expedited access to the secretary of state. In many instances, the preferential treatment provided to donors was at the specific request of Clinton Foundation executive Douglas Band."

It adds: "Also included among the emails is an exchange in which Band urged Abedin to get the Clinton State Department to intervene to obtain a visa for members of the Wolverhampton (UK) Football Club, one of whose members was apparently having difficulty because of a 'criminal charge'."

Band was allegedly acting at the behest of Casey Wasserman, a millionaire Hollywood sports executive and President of the Wasserman Foundation. He has donated between $5 million and $10 million to the Clinton Foundation through the Wasserman Foundation.

In a further email Ms Abedin says to Mr Band: "I got this now, makes me nervous to get involved but I'll ask." To which Mr Band replies: "Then don't." There is no suggestion Mrs Clinton was aware of any of the correspondence.

Wolves declined to comment.

I contacted Senator Boxer's office in SF for help … They balked at the criminal charge and said they "couldn't help."
