Meat cleaver and knives seized as boys as young as 13 arrested in Wolverhampton

Six teenage boys were arrested in Wolverhampton on suspicion of carrying weapons, including a meat cleaver and three knives, in public.

Five boys, two aged 17, two aged 16 and a 13-year-old. were arrested in Dudley Road after police were called to a disorder on a bus. Another 15-year-old boy was arrested in Dixon Street.

A statement from West Midlands Police said: "Five teenage boys, two aged 17, two aged 16 and a 13-year-old, were arrested in Dudley Road for possession of a weapon in a public place, after officers were called to disorder on a bus. A 17-year-old and the 13-year-old have been released on police bail. In a separate arrest a 15-year-old boy was arrested in Dixon Street for possession of a weapon in a public place. He has also been released on police bail."

The Wolverhampton Response tweeted an image, in the early hours of Thursday morning, of some of the weapons recovered from the group, along with the message: "A unit 6 youths have been arrested in Wolverhampton this evening these are some of the weapons recovered from them."
