Jackie Abbott's death has shook the community. The 54-year-old died after being found at her home in Lodge Crescent on Friday.

A total of £1,550 has already been donated to an online fundraiser set up in her name.

A message posted on the page states: "It is times like this that friends and the community pull together to help those in such difficult times."

Since her death, tributes have flooded in for Jackie, who lived with husband Paul and their two sons Martyn and Ryan.

The page has been set up by close family friends Ryan Hayes, aged 24, and Dave Whitehouse, aged 50, both from Brierley Hill.

Donations will go to 'help Jackie's lads Ryan and Martyn who have been left with so much tragedy and loss at this incredibly difficult time of year' according to a statement on the web page.

Mr Hayes said: "We known the family for 20 years and they have helped us immensely over the past six months in setting up our tackle business.

"The news has obviously shocked everyone, but we felt it was only right that Dave and I, along with friends create this page and do what we can to help the boys through this awful time.

"We set the page up on Monday night and already nearly have more than £1,000 which is amazing. It shows how the community has pulled together in such tragic time and how much Jackie and the family are liked.

"It's never the best time of year anyway for some people as money is always tight, but we are doing what we can to help Ryan and Martyn in any way possible.

"We really can't thank everyone who has supported us enough. The response has been incredible."

The couple ran a fishing tackle shop called J & P Fishing Snooker Darts at the Enterprise Industrial Estate in Hurst Lane in Brierley Hill, with Mrs Abbott listed as company secretary, and Mr Abbott director.

Paul Abbott was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with her murder.

The 56-year-old appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on Monday and has been remanded in custody until March 15.

On that date he will appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.

Detectives investigating the death have said they are not looking for anyone other suspects but have appealed for anyone who was near Lodge Crescent on Friday afternoon to come forward.
