A keen photographer caught this beautiful snapshot of a sundial set against a beautiful autumnal scene at a Staffordshire school.

Jack Quinton, aged 19, took the photograph during a family visit to Smallwood Manor, a Victorian school in Uttoxeter.

The school doubles up as accommodation for groups over the winter months.

Jack, an engineering apprentice from Willenhall, took his camera for a stroll around the grounds during his last visit, where he captured a gloomy skyline in the background of the sundial for a unique shot.

He said: "I tend to take my camera most places with me and obviously when we went to Smallwood Manor, it was an ideal place to get some good pictures.

"I do photography as a hobby although I would like it to be more than that.

"I like this shot in particular because of the colours, they are vibrant and bright, which is what I look for in a good photograph.

"Also, the sundial is in focus but the background is slightly off, which makes it an interesting picture for technical reasons.

"The surrounding area was really beautiful, full of trees and ornaments worthy of photographing, but this one stood out for me."
