Controversial new digital M6 advert given backing

A new LED advert will go up next to the M6 despite under new plans - concerns it will distract drivers and cause accidents.

The sign is proposed for land off Darlaston Road. It would overlook the motorway between junction nine at Wednesbury and 10 for Walsall.

It will be half the size of an existing hoarding 12 metres advert but have a digital display, which has prompted objections from Highways England and Network Rail.

Concerns include the impact it could have on motorists and trains running nearby.

However, Walsall Council planners are being recommended to back the application submitted by Primesight Ltd this week. There are already a string of adverts in place near the busy stretch of the M6 which carries around 160,000 motorists a day.
