Driver taken to hospital after Walsall crash

A man was taken to hospital after a two-car crash on a busy Walsall road.

A BMW collided with a Reliant Robin in West Bromwich Road, Delves, at around midday today.

This was the scene as emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the crash.

The incident happened near to the junction with Bell Lane and the road was partially closed for around 30 minutes.

The male driver of the Reliant Robin was taken to hospital with minor facial injuries while another man, who had been driving the BMW, was treated for shock at the scene.

Crews from West Bromwich fire station attended. Crew commender John Watton said nobody had been trapped in either vehicle and firefighters helped to make the scene safe.

He said: "We attended the incident involving two cars that had been in collision at about 12pm.

"One man was taken to hospital with minor facial injuries and a man from the other vehicle was in shock.

"One lane of the road had to be closed while we dealt with the incident."

The road has been the scene of a number of collisions over the years.
