Musicians will be able to perform in the shopping centre from later this month.

The spot outside Oliver Adams aims to showcase local talent and boost trade. The Saddlers Sunday sets are due to launch on March 29.

Centre manager Angela Henderson said: "We are trying to promote local talent in the area.

"If it takes off, we may be able to get a stage. Hopefully it will be good for trade as well."

The shopping centre is also sponsoring the Bands On The Beacon event this year which is being held at Barr Beacon on June 27 and 28.

It emerged last month that the annual summer music festival, which attracts thousands of visitors, will introduce charges for the first time this year. It comes as £440,000 Heritage Lottery Funding has run out.
