A cat is looking for a new home and a loving family after being taken in by a sanctuary when his elderly owners died a year ago.

Bobby, a seven-year-old ginger tabby, is presently being cared for by staff at Wednesbury Cat Sanctuary.

And they want cat lovers to come forward and given the friendly moggy a permanent home.

Bobby had a tough start in life and was first brought into the sanctuary around four years ago after being found as a stray.

He had a severe tooth infection and needed veterinary treatment.

But the determined cat clawed his way back to health with help from the sanctuary's animal welfare nurse Joyce Clark.

After he had recovered, Bobby was happily re-housed with the elderly couple.

But he was returned to the sanctuary a year ago after the couple died.

Joyce said: "It is very sad as Bobby was very happy with his new owners.

"He had been with us for around a year now but would be far happier in a home environment.

"Unfortunately because of his age there has been no interest so far.

"People do seem to want younger cats although seven is by no means old for a cat. A lot now live to be 18 and older."

Joyce said Bobby was a very friendly cat who had no aggression in him.

"We are looking to find him a new start in life with a loving family," she said.

"I would urge anyone interested to get in touch with us."

The sanctuary can be contacted on 0121 502 5027.
