More than 700 extra school places will be created under the plans, with some schools getting new mobile classrooms.

Council chiefs have drawn up a scheme to expand nine schools in a bid to cope with a rising demand.

Five of them - Bushbury Hill, Loxdale, St Martin's CofE, Stowlawn and West Park - will temporarily be expanded by 270 pupils and mobile classrooms built, with a spike in pupils numbers expected in 2015 and 2016.

Four more - Bilston CofE, Eastfield and Manor Primary and Westacre Infant School - will be permanently expanded with 465 places and new buildings.

Education chiefs will consult with schools and make a final decision later this year in time for the 2015 school year.
