£250k Walsall lottery prize goes unclaimed
A £250,000 cash prize is sitting waiting in the Black Country after a EuroMillions winner has failed to collect the prize.
The oblivious winner bought the lottery ticket in Walsall for the May 30 draw.
But the quarter-of-a-million prize has not been collected and the National Lottery is searching for the lucky mystery ticket holder.
The winning EuroMillions numbers on that date were 5, 24, 27, 41, 45 and the Lucky Star numbers were 6 and 7. The holder has until November 26 to claim their prize.
Lottery players are being urged to double-check their tickets. The winner who bought it in Walsall matched the five main numbers and one Lucky Star number.
If no-one comes forward before the prize claim deadline, then the money plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
National Lottery spokesman Patrick Lisoire said: "We're eager to find the mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings - this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody's life.
"We're urging everyone who bought a EuroMillions ticket in this area to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.
"Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa – someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune.
"We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win."
In a bid to jog people's memories they are even reminding people of events that took place on the same evening as the draw.
It was the day England played their final pre-World Cup home friendly against Peru, before heading off to Miami for the final two warm up games ahead of the tournament.
Away from sport, One Man, Two Guvnors was being performed at Birmingham Hippodrome at the same time.
Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket should call the National Lottery Line on 0845 910 0000.
