Mick and Sheila Writtle from Wordsley have been celebrating their golden wedding anniversary.

Mrs Writtle said: "We met through mutual friends. We all used to go dancing to the Civic Dance Hall in Old Hill. We just got talking one day and a few months after that Mick asked me out."

The couple got married at St Mary's Church in Kingswinford on June 6, 1964 and went to Jersey on their honeymoon.

Mr Writtle, aged 75, worked at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham before spending almost 24 years as a BT engineer. Mrs Writtle, 72, is a retired secretary, working at various places during her career including a post at British Casters in Great Bridge, Sandwell.

The Writtles have three sons, Stewart, 46, Mark, 44 and Matthew, 40, and two grandchildren. To celebrate their anniversary they held a party at Stourbridge Rugby Club on Saturday for friends and family.
