Louis Johnson from Tettenhall Wood

Louis Johnson, aged 14 from Tettenhall Wood in Wolverhampton, won the Outstanding Young Citizens Award from the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, David Jamieson.

He has also been named one of Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity's Hundred Heroes.

His proud mother Teresa said: "He has been fundraising for 10 years.

"He has been nominated for all the fundraising he has done for the community.

"Louis helps a lot of people including the homeless and sick children."

Louis found out he had won the award during a Zoom meeting.

She continued: "He loves winning awards, but he is just making awareness for the charities he helps.

"He was over the moon on Friday. It was a relief, especially after the year we have had."

That was the first time Louis had received the award from the PCC.

However he has been named a hero of Birmingham Children's Hospital two times previously.

The teenager has raised a fantastic £13,000 for the hospital's charity.

In May, Louis is planning to walk from his home in Tettenhall to the hospital, a distance of around 16 and a half miles, in aid of charity.

He has set a £300 target for that cause, and now surpassed that.
