Care home plan for guest house
A B&B is to be turned into a luxury new home for people with learning difficulties, after 15 years of welcoming visitors to the Black Country.
Rosewood Lodge Guest House, at the top of Bradley Lane, Bilston, was originally a traditional Edwardian corner shop with family accommodation.
The quaint black and white property was first developed to provide bed and breakfast accommodation in 1987 and sold in November last year. For its last 15 years as a B&B, the premises had been run by Richard Smith.
A message on the guest house’s website says: “Richard has retired after 15 happy years serving a wide variety of guests.
“The new owners have submitted plans to convert it into a luxury home for people with learning difficulties – a very good use for this charming and well built property.”
Located near the Black Country Living Museum, the B&B was a popular choice with visitors to the region due to its nearby transport links with Dudley, Wolverhampton, West Bromwich and Walsall.
Writing on travel platform Tripadvisor, one person who stayed at Rosewood while it was still operating as a guest house described the B&B as being “better than home”.
The application for conversion has been made by David Allen of management consultants Deerswood Ltd, based in St Albans. Wolverhampton Council planners will make a decision on the plans in the near future.
