Alamgeer Foods Ltd, based in Robottom Close, donated the much-needed packages to Beechdale charity Residents R Us after being approached by Birchills-Leamore ward councillor Gaz Ali.

The food will be distributed to elderly and needy people in the area by the charity, which has already handed out 500 parcels to families during the pandemic.

Residents R Us was set up 12 years ago and representatives said it is self-funding and relies on support to carry out its work.

The charity’s chairwoman Sue Lycett said: “We have a great partnership with our local councillor Gaz Ali and Alamgeer foods Ltd.

“They have been absolutely fantastic giving us food donations when we need them.

“We have distributed nearly 500 food parcels to the elderly and needy families in our community and, thanks to them, hopefully we can do more.”

Councillor Ali said: “As a local councillor its my responsibility to support my residents.

“I was approached by a local charity Residents R Us for support so I contacted Alamgeer foods Ltd, who are based in my ward, and they were very pleased to support my charity.

“Up to now they have provided over 100 food parcels. They have been absolutely amazing and very supportive and I very much appreciate their co-operation. I hope that more local businesses will follow suit.”

Mohammed Adil Zeb, CEO of Alamgeer Foods Ltd said: “We believe that we have a duty to support charities and local people.

“We are going through unprecedented times and people need help more than ever. Its a pleasure to help our local communities.”
