Pathway Project in Lichfield has been awarded £1,000 from Taylor Wimpey Midlands and Taylor Wimpey West Midlands, after being announced as the winner of the homebuilder’s Community Chest competition.

Residents from in and around Lichfield were invited to vote for a local good cause to receive a helping hand from Taylor Wimpey, with Pathway Project receiving the most nominations.

Pathway Project, based in Lichfield and Tamworth, offers support to adults, young people and children who are experiencing or affected by domestic abuse.

Operating for more than 30 years, the charity offers a range of services to help victims, including a 24 hour confidential domestic abuse helpline.

Commenting on the donation from Taylor Wimpey, Hayley Cliff, CEO at Pathway Project, said: "We are over the moon to have received such a generous donation from Taylor Wimpey.

"It’s particularly special that the local community put forward the Pathway Project as deserving of funds.

"The pandemic has tragically led to an increase in cases of domestic abuse, and it is, therefore, more important than ever that we have the resources to offer support to those in need.

"We rely solely on the generosity of others in order to be able to carry out our work and we are incredibly grateful to Taylor Wimpey and the support they have provided."

Angie Prince, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey West Midlands, said: "We are always proud to support the local communities in which we build, but this year it has been more important than ever.

"We are delighted to be able to support the Pathway Project and we hope this will help them with the important work they continue to do."

Ben Walker, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Midlands, said: !We were extremely impressed with the number of nominations we received from the local community throughout this competition and would like to thank everyone who took part."
