Emergency services were called to Ashbourne Road, in the Uttoxeter area, at around 7pm on Wednesday.

Four people were assessed by paramedics at the scene after the crash – with two being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "On arrival, crews discovered a total of four patients.

“The van driver, a man, was trapped as a result of the collision and ambulance staff worked closely alongside colleagues from the fire service to cut him free.

"He received treatment for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital on blue lights and sirens.

“The driver of the car, also a man, got himself out of his vehicle and was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to the same hospital.

"A teenage male and a boy who were travelling in the car were also assessed but did not require treatment.”

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were sent to the scene.
