Giveaway planned as new discount store opens in Oldbury
Discount retail chain Heron Foods is opening a new store in Oldbury that has created a dozen new full and part-time jobs.
The shop in Pottery Road – a former Morrisons – opens to the public at 8am on Thursday.
On opening day, the store will be offering a scratchcard-style giveaway to the first 250 customers with prizes worth £50 to be found, and other prizes including £5 vouchers, product vouchers, and £1 off £10 spend coupons.
Visitors to the company’s Facebook page will have the opportunity to choose their favourite charity which will be given £250 as a thank you from Heron Foods to mark the opening of the new store.
Store manager Jenny Bulman, who has worked at Heron Foods for more than five years, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening a new store in Oldbury and look forward to welcoming customers through the doors.
“I’d personally like to thank colleagues for their efforts in getting the new store ready, as well as our new neighbours who have already shown support.
“As an essential retailer within the community, we’ll be bringing local people our huge everyday grocery range at the lowest possible prices.”
Heron Foods Oldbury will be open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. The store will have free car parking spaces and a free-to-use indoor cash machine.
The discount convenience retailer has a total of around 300 stores. Last year it bucked industry trends by opening 20 new stores.
Although all of the positions have been filled for this store, job seekers are encouraged to visit Heron Foods’ dedicated careers website at careers.heronfoods.com for the latest local vacancies.
