West Midlands Police have begun the investigation after the incident in Brierley Hill, which saw the three people flee from a home in Amblecote Road in a stolen Mini.

The force confirmed it was called to the burglary at about 3.45am on Wednesday, after a door had been kicked in and the hallway searched.

Officers said they do not believe anything was taken but said three offenders left in a white Mini which had earlier been reported stolen during a break-in at a property in Perrins Lane, Wollescote.

The Mini was later spotted by officers at about 6.30am in Amblecote High Street, but subsequently diverted down Vicarage Road.

Police later found it abandoned in Blackwood Avenue in Wolverhampton on Wednesday afternoon and it has since been recovered.

A police spokesman said enquiries were continuing and urged anyone with information to contact police via Live Chat online at west-midlands.police.uk (8am to midnight) or call 101 anytime and quote crime reference number 20DY/31418M/21.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org
